Celebrate International Dance Day at The Club – Open Studio Event

In honor of International Dance Day, The Club invites members and their guests to step into the rhythm and join our Open Studio celebration a day of dynamic, expressive, and cultural dance experiences led by our most accomplished instructors.

Established by the UNESCO International Dance Council, International Dance Day highlights the cultural impact of dance and its unique ability to unite and inspire communities around the world. This global celebration is a reminder of the joy, expression, and connection that dance brings to our lives.

The Club’s International Dance Day Open Studio offers a variety of complimentary classes showcasing global dance styles. Whether you’re a seasoned dancer or simply curious to try something new, you’re welcome to join any or all of the sessions throughout the day.

Open Studio Schedule – Monday, April 29

9:00am – World Rhythms with Lisa Canning

Lisa Canning is a passionate dancer and health and wellness professional, committed to inspiring others to achieve their best through the transformative power of dance. Lisa has a B.A. in Dance Ethnology from San Francisco State University, is licensed in Zumba and certified by AFAA as a group fitness instructor, as well as by NASM as a personal trainer with a specialization in Corrective Exercise.

9:30am – African Dance with Fatou Kamara

Fatou Kamara is from The Gambia, West Africa where music and dance is a way of life. She is a licensed group exercise leader and feels blessed to share her passion with dancers in the Bay Area since 2014.

1:00pm – Polynesian Dance with Lisa Saunders

Lisa Saunders is a choreographer, performer and multicultural dance specialist who believes movement is essential to wellness. She earned a master’s degree in ethnomusicology and brings more than 40 years of performance, dance education, training and experience to The Club’s dance fitness offerings.

5:30pm – Contemporary Dance with Deb Sopko

Deborah Sopko has been in the health and wellness industry over three decades. Her background as a professional dancer led her to study exercise physiology. She has a graduate degree in health services and loves to help students flourish at every stage of their lives through the joy of movement.

6:00pm – Line Dance with Paul Ciske

Enjoy dancing in unison to country music with easy to learn choreography that stimulates your body and brain.
